yeah, I don't worry as much about the production of my tracks anymore, as long as I have decent corrective EQ to tell me how the frequencies should sound. Before I used to do crazy stuff like compressors with custom compression curves controlling dynamic EQ, or dynamic EQ being used as a sidechain for more dynamic EQ in a series. But I didn't do the corrective EQ, so it was kind of a waste. It was a little salvageable, but I just had to layer the EQ on top of the finished FLAC because I hadn't saved the intermediate renders (not enough backup hard drives at the time). But yeah, it the corrective EQ really helps because you've got sort of the right pair of ears when mastering the track
